Switch from iOS to Android

Make the transition from iPhone to Android as easy as possible with this brilliant masterclass.

There can be a variety of reasons why you might choose to move from iPhone to Android, but a common misconception is that the transition between the two tends to be a complex one. Thanks to a plethora of apps available on both app stores, making the move to Android doesn’t necessarily need to be a diffi cult one as we cover in the following masterclass.
Apple-specifi c services such as iTunes and iCloud are fantastic in what they do and are fully locked into the iOS ecosystem, but due to the openness of Android, you can successfully import most of your stored content within them over to your new device. In this masterclass, we’ll be looking at the best ways to get your iTunes and iCloud content across to Android devices. Similarly, we’ll be looking at the easiest way to get all your contacts transferred across in a matter of minutes, and also using the Instashare app to transfer photo and fi les between iOS and Android without the need for any cables or complicated programs. So read on as we guide you through the easiest way possible to make the switch over from iOS to Android Here’s fi ve tips to get started…

1. Desktop connection

Instead of transferring fi les over between mobiles, you can also use your desktop computer as a way to share fi les between both devices. Just connect both to your computer via USB and you should fi nd them listed under the E:// drive.

2. Share with services

If you need an alternative way to transfer photos between devices, try the likes of Dropbox and WhatsApp. Both are available for iOS and Android and provide a simple platform where you can transfer individual photos.

3. Chrome users

If you’re an avid Chrome user with plenty of bookmarks and extensions saved on your iOS device, then you’re in luck. Simply log into Chrome for Android with the same account and your search history, bookmarks and Android-compatible extension will transfer across.

4. Transfer SMS

Connect your iOS device to your desktop computer and open up iTunes. If you then right-click on your device’s name, you’ll be able to choose the Back Up option. From here you can then choose to back up SMS messages, which can then be transferred to Android.

5. More with AirDroid

AirDroid will also give you a basic overview of how your device is functioning and give you access to other features – plenty more than simply transferring fi les.
